Wank is a little innocently named village just 2kms east of Nesselwang, which unfortunately suffered in the 80's from repeatedly having it's road sign stolen by members of the British Army (so rumour has it!). Thankfully for the Wankers (village occupants), these Britsh soldiers are now no longer stationed in the area and the villagers can enjoy an almost tranquil life.
Please do not treat this cache as magnetic, wedge cache back in nice and tight.
During my Time of Geocaching around our lovely Allgäu, I have also now and again seen little villages with unusual names. One of which is this one. I think every English speaking person that has been in the Nesselwang area has taken a photo stood below one of the Wank village road signs, with a smile on their faces.

Bei meinen Cache-Touren ist mir auch aufgefallen, dass es in unserem schönen Allgäu und in den umliegenden Landkreisen jede Menge Ortschaften und Weiler gibt, die einen sehr lustigen, ausgefallenen oder ungewöhnlichen Namen tragen.
Darum habe ich beschlossen diese Ortschaft in die Cache-Serie „Wo liegt eigentlich…“ einzutragen.
Wank ist ein kleines Dorf gerade 2 Km von Nesselwang entfernt. In den 80er Jahren wurde das Ortsschild immer durch Mitglieder der Britischen Armee gestohlen (so geht das Gerücht).
Die Wanker genießen heut zu Tage den Frieden und seitdem die Umgehungsstraße gebaut wurde, ist Wank ein schönes ruhiges kleines Dorf.
