This Geocache is tributed to "Pete the Squirrel", who fell from his nest when he was only two weeks old and was rescued by the "Stinker Diggers"!
Pete the Squirrel and his two friends Melanie the Gorilla and John the Frog like to hide Geocaches in the Sugar Bush Park of Macedonia. Since Melanie and John know that Pete loves to put maple syrup on his acorns, they thought it would be fun for you to find Pete's favorite eating spot, by hunting for Pete with the hints given in this multi-cache.
Now Pete and his friend's want you to be cautious especially if you cache with small children. You'll need to be careful near the ledges and do not venture into the neighbor's "Private Property". Most stages are on or near the trails, except for stages 5 and 6, there is a little bush-wracking involved with them.
Please put every stage back the way you found it for the next group of cacher's and do not remove or mix any of the stage pieces of this multi-cache. Please be sure that all lids and zip bags are sealed properly before advancing to the next stage. The SWAG is only in Stage 6 the last stage of this multi. Stages 1-5 are not to have trade items left in them. BYOP! And in the great words of Elvis, "Thank you very much"!!
Melanie and John made all six stages with easy to find hints to make this multi go fast as you enjoy this beautiful park. As always, please use stealth tactics, this park is usually quiet but on prime summer days it can have a lot of picnicker's and baseball games. Please follow all park rules, cache only in the daylight hours, and may the "Geo-Force" be with you!
Finding Stage 1: Please use the cords given at the top of this page and enter the tall grass/tree area from the edge of the baseball outfield. You may not want to enter from the park entrance, there is a good amount of poison ivy near Ruth Young's stone so please be cautious! Stage 1 Hint: Melanie is hiding in a small cave and wanted to keep the coords for Stage 2 safe, so she ate them for breakfast!
After locating Melanie at Stage 1, please take ONE of "Pete's Multi-Cache Recording Sheet" per cacher or group. It may help to record all six coords on paper as you proceed. Please only carry this "Recording Sheet" from stage to stage, everything else needs to stay at its location just as you found it for the next set of cachers.
Finding Stage 2: As you follow the second set of coords given up by Melanie at Stage 1, you may need this to locate Stage 2, Hint: "Leave no stone unturned" or "This stone wasn't made by mother nature and you could say it is at the foot of a tree". You never know what John the frog may swallow for lunch, probably the coords to locate Stage 3.
Finding Stage 3: Find Pete's girlfriend, Claudia, once you get John to croak up the coords for locating Stage 3 you may need this Hint: So that's how you get a square block into a round hole! Find Claudia and she just may have the cords for Stage 4 hidden inside something!
Finding Stage 4: From the bridge follow the cords for Stage 4, Hint: its a place where the two elderly characters, (Ruth Buzy and Arty Johnson, from the "Laugh In Show") they would love to meet on this. There you will find an Altoid size container with the cords for Stage 5. You're getting closer to Pete, don't give up now, you're almost there!
Finding Stage 5: From Stage 4's location follow the cords for Stage 5, Hint: Pete learned to swing like this from watching Tarzan movies! After locating the small pill bottle of Stage 5, you'll have the cords for Stage 6. Finally Pete's favorite spot for eating Acorns with Maple Syrup! Decrypt the final hint...
