-----------

This 462 acre site was previously a quarry operated by Vulcan Materials from the 1950's to the 1990's. The City of Crystal Lake realized the potential of the site for a recreation area and negotiated to obtain the property which was deeded to the City in 2007. The project was soon funded and The Three Oaks Recreation area officially opened on October 1, 2010. A little more history can be found here.
