Miramichi Landings: Archiving Cache
More
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache can be found near a set of ship's masts. Vehicular traffic is high in this area, but pedestrian traffic is lower. Depending on snowfall amounts, cache may not be winter friendly, but perhaps that would make for a slightly more difficult hunt.
This cache is in honour of the founder of the Town of Chatham, Francis Peabody. In 1800, Peabody, a businessman from Massachusetts, landed at what is now known as Waterford Green and quickly began influencing the development of the town.
Waterford Green is now used as a public gathering space, playing host to numerous festivals and events year round. Recent renovations to the park have included the installation of a large stage, landscaping, a playground area, interpretive signage, and a bronze statue of Francis Peabody - a favourite photo op for residents and tourists alike.
Due to cache placement guidelines, this cache isn't officially at Waterford green, but resides in a small green space a short distance away.
Cache is a small camo’d Lock N Lock. Original contents are: logbook, pencil, pencil sharpener, and ‘muggle card’ (please leave these items in the cache). Original tradable items include: wooden toy block, red die, brown toy frog, yellow coil key chain, and Francis Peabody Travel Bug.
