Pont-Ca Lake was made by Herman M. Russell in 1947. It was dedicated with a big cerimony in 1948. It was entended to be a living developement for great improvement on social living and leasure. It had a night club with an out door dance floor. The local boy and cub scouts were on hand for the dedicational raising of Old Glory. The Carmi High School band played Star Spangled Banner. It was just about the time where the area exspansion was taking off that a terrible accident happened. While out on the water in a speed boat, a young lady drowned. After the death of this young lady, everything just stopped. No body came out to Pont-Ca Lake anymore. Some 60 years later, there are houses built. But almost everything from the origanal days of the lake are gone. The night club still stands but is covered by trees and plant growth.
