Our sixth hide! And this is about as urban as Plain City gets...
On November 15, 1902, Uncle Sammy Taylor donated the town clock. Over 3000 people gathered for the ceremony downtown.
Since then, the clock tower has become one of Plain City's most recognizable landmarks--every year the village has many events right in the center of town, in what is called Bicentennial Park (which only really consists of a tree and a sitting area). From the cache's location, you can get a good view of the clock tower, as well as the town's Christmas tree, lit every year at the Christmas Under the Clock festivities.
There are many more things to look at while hunting the cache, and you may need to utilize some clever stealth for this one. The difficulty rating here is mainly because it will be virtually impossible at certain times of the day to find the cache without being spotted by muggles (or whoever happens to be driving by). Add that to the fact that the container itself is not in a spot most would call "readily accessible", and you've got an interesting "urban adventure" in Plain City!
Being "downtown" Plain City, there ARE a few things to occupy your attention while you hunt. Besides the clock tower building and Bicentennial Park across the intersection, take a look at the following sights to give the appearance of a common tourist!
>One of Plain City's water towers stands just beyond the clock tower. It's usually a favorite hangout of area turkey vultures at certain times of the day and year. It's almost like they're watching you...
>The Plain City Auction House is housed directly east of the clock tower building.
>The Plain City Historical Society is located across Main Street next to the old bank building. It has a great deal of information about the village in its infancy.
Look around! Try to blend in!
The cache site IS wheelchair accessible, but assistance may be needed to get the cache itself. Stay on the sidewalk at all times--there should be no reason to put your back to the street or go onto the street for any reason, so be careful! Be sure to mention in your log post how the hunt went!
Enjoy the find!
Congratulations to LSOLLER for the wicked fast FTF!!!
