Geocache Description:

In 2008, the Downtown Whitby Development Steering Committee (DWDSC) working with the Town of Whitby Archivist, recommended to the town council that a series of plaques be placed around the downtown area to recall some of the history surrounding the growth and development of the town. Centered around the downtown “Four Corners” business district you can find all of the plaques and only travel a few blocks in any direction. The plaques are blue in colour and are easily visible from the sidewalk, either mounted on a pedastal or fixed to the side of a building. One plaque may not be accessible during certain hours however this will not be an issue to completing the cartridge.

This Wherigo journey will start at the corner of Dundas Street and Brock Street. The walk should take you less then an hour as you complete your visits to the plaques to get to the final. At each stage you will be asked to answer a question correctly before moving on to the next stage. There will be 12 stages including the final, however some stages are very close to each other and total distance covered is just over 1 km. This Wherigo cartridge is best done on foot. If you park close to the start, you will not have far to walk back from the final cache. There is metered street parking as well as a municipal lot behind the old firehall at Colborne St East and Green St.

You can download the cartridge here.

Congratulations to Capers4, JUNGLE J and sabresfan for a team FTF effort.
