The cache is a nano containing a rolled log only. Please bring your own pen and please put it back exactly where you find it, thank you. Do not poke it into any holes - leave it on the surface thank you.
This cache is in the vicinity of Chapelton Dam which was opened in 2009 as part of the £20 million Forres (Burn of Mosset) Flood Prevention Scheme. It is constructed such that under normal circumstances the Burn of Mossett flows through the channel at the bottom of the dam. However, if there is exceptionally heavy rainfall, the restricted flow fills up the dam and the low lying fields above the dam are flooded instead of the water continuing downstream and flooding Forres. It was opened in August 2009 and in early September 2009 prevented heavy rainfall flooding Forres.
The cache can be accessed down the lane through Chapelton Farm by parking near Leanchoil Hospital or from the paths through the Forres Woodlands Trust Sanquhar Woods. It also lies close to the Forres Footpaths Trust Yellow waymarked Sanquhar - Chapelton - Muiry walk. See (visit link) for details of this pleasant walk.
