George Washington Drank Here Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

gladeslvr & crew: Sadly, we're archiving this one. It's just too hard to keep anything there. Still an interesting place to stop on your way to or from Jumonville.

Thanks to all who found this one!

Geocache Description:

An easy p-n-g at a spot easily overlooked. There is a slight pullover spot nearby. Make sure you are off the road as the few cars that go by tend to do so quite fast!

If you look back in the woods, you can see the remains of Washington's Spring. It's on posted private property, so don't trespass!

As the old, rusty marker states, the spring is located on what was once known as Nemacolin's Trail, then later Braddock's Road. George Washington stopped here several times and camped with General Braddock here on their march toward Fort Duquesne.

The other nearby sign marks "Washington-Braddock Road 1754-1756".

Take a moment to imagine on what it must've been like here so long ago.
