Der erstaunte Geist
Zur Zeit als die Landleute noch von den Schlossherren Pachthöfe bekamen, lebte aufeinem Hote bei Burscheid ein Mann, der jährlich als Pacht eine kleine Wanne auf das Schloss liefern musste. Er ging jeder Jahr aufden Lorenzmarkt nach Diekirch, wo er die Wanne kaufte und dann auf das Schloss trug. Einmal kam der Mann ein bisschen angeheitert vom Markte und legte sich im Walde unter einen Baum, um zu schlafen. Da es regnerisches Wetter war, legte er sich die Wanne über den Kopf. Um Mitternachi wurde er durch ein dumpfes Rollengeweckt, ähnlich dem, welche ein schweres Fass im Fortwälzen verursacht. Auf einmal stand ein Mann vor ihm, der mit einer Kette rasselte und ausref: „Da bin ich doch schon lange hier umgegangen und habe gesehen, dass dies Land dreimal Wald und dreimal Feld ( 3 xHouland an 3 x Plouland) war, aber noch nie habe ich eine Wanne mit Beinen gesehen."
Un fantôme très étonné
Du temps où les seigneurs affermaient leurs prop nétés aux paysans, il vivait dans une ferme à Bourscheid un homme qui chaque année livrait au châteaw une baignoire comme fermage: Ainsi chaque année il se rendait au marché St. Laurent à Diekirc pour y acheter une baignoire pour son seigneur. Cette année là le paysan quittait le marché un peu éméché. Dans la forêt il se coucha sous un arbre pour dormir. Comme le temps était plutôt pluvieux il se mit la baignoire sur la tête. A minuit i fut réveillé par un bruit sourd, comme si on roulait un gros tonneau devant soi. Soudain un homme se tenait devant lui diquait avec ses chaines et cria: «J'erre ici depuis bien longtempy et j'ai connu trois fois une foret et trois fois des champs Mais je n'ai jamais vu de baignoire avec des jambes. »
The astonished ghost
At the time when the lords of the castles leased the land of their farms, a manlived in a farm situated in Burscheid. Every year he used to deliver a tub to the castle. So every year he went to the Lawrencemarket in Diekirch and bought a tub for the lord. One time, the man left the market a bit tipsy, laid down under a tree in the forest and slept. As it was rainy, he placed the tub over his head: At midnight he was woken by a hollow sound, like the one o a heavy barrel being rolled around. Suddenly a man stood in front ofhim, rattling with a chain and declaring:" I have been going around here for a long time and have seen that this land was three times forest and three times fields, but I have never saw a tub with legs."
