OK all you hard core cachers out there!
Here is a challenge to reward your caching efforts.
Nab at Least 1 CCFTF9+ cache (see description)
every month for 12 Months Straight!!
What the heck is a CCFTF9+ cache?!?: For the purpose of this challenge a CCFTF9+ is either a Challenge Cache (CC) OR a First To Find (FTF) on any cache OR a cache with nine or greater (9+) D/T combination.
- A Challenge Cache: Challenge caches are defined in the Groundspeak Knowledge Books section 4.14. Basically, "A challenge cache requires that geocachers meet a geocaching-related qualification or series of tasks before the challenge cache can be logged". There are also several bookmarks that track national and state challenge caches. If you have a question about a cache qualifying, please just drop us a line.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The new "Geocaching Challenges" do NOT qualify as a Challenge Cache.
- First To Find on a cache: For the purposes of THIS challenge cache, being first to find on a cache means the following:
- You are the first person to find and log a cache. First to sign a replacement log or a cache that has simply updated coordinates are not considered first to finds.
- CoFTF and FTFs as a big group are TOTALLY fine and acceptable.
- A 9 star or greater cache: If adding up the Difficulty level stars and the Terrain level stars for a cache is greater than or equal to 9, then the cache is considered a 9+ cache. Very few caches are both high difficulty and high terrain, but they are out there!
Details: Of course there are details. Please read thoroughly and ensure you meet all conditions before logging a find.
- You must have claimed a CCFTF9+ cache in each month for 12 consecutive months (any combination of CC or FTF or 9+ count, they don't all have to be the same type)
- Cache finds logged prior to the publishing of this challenge DO count for this challenge.
- You must either list the caches for your streak in a "note" or "found it" log OR have a public CCFTF9+ cache Bookmark. This bookmark can contain all of your CCFTF9+ caches as long as the comments contain the date that you got the CCFTF9+ cache or it can just be a list of the CCFTF9+ caches that satisfy the requirements for this challenge.
- THIS cache does NOT count toward your CCFTF9+ streak
This is likely a long term goal challenge and could obviously take up to a year to complete. Some people will be closer to getting this than others, but there is not a way to fast track this challenge. If you want a more immediate CCFTF9+ challenge, please check out the sister challenge. It can be completed in a much shorter time frame.
The Cache Is Not At The Posted Coordinates! Look at the waypoints, you will find the actual location. I wanted to have the posted coordinates be outside of the Shoreline / Lake Forest Park Blackout Challenge area so they are automatically ignored by the filter. In addition, we are building a nice little collection of tough Unknown Caches out in the Puget Sound.
Congratulations to MaddiesDaddy on their FTF!
Congratulations to all the cachers that have completed this challenge!
You are all amazing!!

Personal Note: One way to log a CCFTF9+ is to get a FTF, right? Well, we think that FTFs are really fun! They add some good natured competitiveness to the game, which in turn adds anticipation and excitement. However, running out after a FTF is not for everyone; we all play this game differently. With this (and our other CCFTF9+ challenge) we are hoping to add to the fun, not to change the fun into a negative competition. Please don't let these challenges change the way FTFs are shared when two or more search together or create a sense of resentment. Please have FUN with this! If having these challenges around is a negative influence, they will have to go away.
