Geocache Description:

Cache is located in The Granites 10km North of Mt Magnet just off the Great Northern Highway. It is located in a rocky outcrop near a parking bay with easy access. Nearby is a map showing features of the area. Cache is an ammo container.

The Granites have been used by Aboriginal people for thousands of years, the breakaways and large boulder overhangs being ideal for semi-permanent occupation.

There are many features within this Aboriginal site complex. Most are engravings and painted rockshelters. There are also stone tools and seed grinding patches associated with camping areas. One site located in the SE corner is of special significance as it was once used for ceremonies and initiations.

Within the Granites there are painting, stencil and engraving sites. The rock art is typical of the style and design utilized by the tradional Badimaya people.
