Geocache Description:

Since I have always been interested in railroads, I’ve decided to start a series of caches highlighting some of the physical features that still remain of railroads that no longer exist in the central KY area.

The Louisville and Nashville Railroad has a long and colorful history and many books have been written about it. The Louisville and Atlantic was the successor to the Richmond, Nicholasville, Irvine, and Beattyville Railroad. The line from the distilleries near Millville to Irvine was abandoned in 1932.

This cache is near the station stop named Million, although the station building is long gone. The roadbed is about 150 feet south of the cache location and if you walk up the road a bit, it's very obvious. Actually, with the leaves coming down as I write this, the roadbed is pretty obvious in many places south of 169 after you cross the river on the ferry. Windy road though, so just let your passenger enjoy it.

Cache is my usual matchstick holder with log only.
