This cache is in the Ashe County Barn Quilts series.
Ashe county is located in the corner of North Carolina that touches both Tennessee and Virginia. Ashe county highways and back roads take you through small towns, scenic hill country and peaceful valleys, along a rushing creek or the tranquil New River. You might be on a state road or a dirt track and suddenly come upon a beautiful barn quilt. Sponsored by the local arts council, these painted quilt blocks mounted on the side of a barn or shed are a symbol of community and family, tradition and comfort.
The cache is within sight of the beautiful Lemoyne Star quilt block pattern featured on the side of this barn in Helton, Grassy Creek, NC. Tucked away from heavy traffic, it is striking when you come upon it among fields of grazing cattle.
