Sk8 Like a Girl : the "Hang-10" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

missionMode: Other logs weren't clear enough about the state of the cache. It's had a good life. Time to put it to bed. I'll try and retrieve what's left the next time I'm in the area.

Geocache Description:

The cache is at the listed coordinates

This cache is part of a series promoting Girl's skateboarding in Winnipeg, in honour of TechDeckPerson. Skate camps and other supports exist in Manitoba for young boys, but so far not enough girls have been identified to warrant much activity aimed toward them. That said, an US based group SkateLikeAGirl and the Manitoba Skateboarding Coalition have held a girls only event called "Chicks Flip Out" in July for the past 2 years, attracting skaters in their teens and 20s from around the world. So get out there and get your skate on... it's not just for the boys. Sadly, sponsors have pulled out so there will be no event in 2010.

This cache is a small lock-n-lock. The cache contains a number of Tech Deck fingerboards, a log sheet, a pencil. I will email an FTF certificate. Be very careful of the skating muggles, as they are always attentive. The cache is just a little away from the park so don't begin by charging towards the concrete. Do check it out though... lots of great ramps.

From WinnipegSkateboarding.com:

Skatepark West was built by Newline Skateparks and built in 2007.
The park features a tiny 4.5 ft mini-ramp with a +1ft extension and a mellow hip with a roll in.
There are a number of sets that go from a wide double set with a hubba and rail on ether side to a small 3set step up gap with a rail. There are a number of banks everywhere in the park and a larger quarter-pipe with a "big 3" stair off the side, a a few rails + boxes and a skate-able wall with a loop extension at the top.

The Trick:

A hang ten nose manual is when the skater places both of her feet on the nose of the board and performs a nose manual by balancing on the front two wheels. It is very similar to the heelie, where the skater places both feet on the back of the board and performs a manual on the back two wheels of the board.

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
