How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This cache is not at these coordinates and it is not very close to these coordinates. This cache is in a public place. This cache is not on or in a building. When looking for this cache don’t go past fences, walls or gates, or into areas where you don’t belong. I consider the cache to be at a very safe location. If you feel in danger in any way you are most likely at the wrong spot. Do not trespass. Do not risk your health or safety. You should not look for this cache in the dark.

Please keep your search limited to daylight hours. Being any place off limits because of location or time is illegal and subject to arrest. Please obey all of the laws and rules.

The hard work for this cache is supposed to be figuring out where the cache is.

Geocachers, you have impressed me a lot. I have seen and enjoyed some very clever and creative caches. I am impressed by what geocachers overcome to find caches. I tip my cap and bow in honor and respect to all geocachers, especially the local giants of geocaching. Thank you.

This cache is meant to be a difficult, fun, and entertaining challenge. I hope you will be excited when you actually put your hands on the cache, and happy that your work resulted in a smiley. Expect this to be challenging, and be thankful if you consider it to be easy.

Now Go For It!

Art The Crow

Hi, I’m Art The Crow and I love to fly (Art the crow flies - ATCF). I have a special cache that is hidden for safekeeping. I’ll tell you a little about the cache and my flying, and then you can go find the cache.

When I fly from Jim’s home to the cache and then on to Laurie’s home I travel 7.18447 miles.

When I fly from Mike’s home to the cache and then on to Nancy’s home I travel 5.60701 miles.

When I fly from Rich’s home to the cache and then on to Sarah’s home I travel 4.87727 miles.

When I fly from Steve’s home to the cache and then on to Tom’s home I travel 6.19659 miles.

That is my story. I think that should be enough information for you. Please be gentle because a short thin string is attached to my cache to keep it from wandering off. I hope you enjoy looking for and finding my cache. May you always fly with the wind at your tail and a song in your heart.

Sincerely, Art The Crow

Let me be a little more precise about where my friends live:

Let A = the distance from Jim’s home (N 38 30.876 W 090 29.637) to the cache.
Let B = the distance from Laurie’s home (N 38 35.807 W 090 25.001) to the cache.
A + B = 37,934 feet

Let C = the distance from Mike’s home (N 38 31.216 W 090 29.155) to the cache.
Let D = the distance from Nancy’s home (N 38 35.128 W 090 25.845 ) to the cache.
C + D = 29,605 feet

Let E = the distance from Rich’s home (N 38 32.940 W 090 29.003) to the cache.
Let F = the distance from Sarah’s home (N 38 34.962 W 090 24.724) to the cache.
E + F = 25,752 feet

Let G = the distance from Steve’s home (N 38 33.066 W 090 30.630) to the cache.
Let H = the distance from Tom’s home (N 38 34.623 W 090 24.470) to the cache.
G + H = 32,718 feet

Your mileage may vary. I found this link (visit link) to a page without ads that computes distances that work for this cache. I used a different web page with an ad to measure distances down to a fraction of a foot when I created this cache. The web page I used lists the distance from N 38 33.000 W 090 27.000 to N 38 34.000 W 090 28.000 as 7713.4296473 feet. If you are interested in finding the online calculator I used you might try putting the following in a search engine: "GPS Latitude and Longitude Distance Calculator"

Perhaps a famous crow or someone who enjoys flying as much as I do will be the first to find my cache! Enjoy the challenge of this adventure.

You are looking for a painted vitamin pill bottle, 2” in diameter and 3.5” tall. The cache container was started with six items from approximately 1924 (limited value). Please take only one if you want one. There is some room for coin trading or other small items, but the space is limited and not big enough for toy swapping. The cache includes a small pencil, but I suggest you bring something to write with. There is also a small pack of souvenirs and you can take one if you like.

Logs that contain spoilers will be deleted
