Geocache Description:

Let’s have a party, festivity, merriment, festival, commemoration – all synonyms for a celebration!

Why?

Just because we love a good “kuier” around the braai with fellow cachers and to welcome new cachers.

To celebrate all the milestones, memories, good laughs and tricky finds of the previous year. I would like to display these on a notice board, with some pictures (so please e-mail them to me). The funnier, the better J.

Because the kids (and the young-at-heart) love a Christmas party, making Christmas decorations and Christmas pudding of course…hmm!

To kick off the 2011 TB race. Bruce kindly offered to handle this part of the event.

Please remember to bring your new travel bugs for the race!

Please book your newly registered TB into the event for that day and if possible post a photograph and its preferred goal on its TB page.  Bruce will be available to take photographs of all the TB’s.

At the end of the event you will be free to take one or more TB’s and help them on their way, especially if you are going away for the holidays.

Where?

Follow the coordinates to a lovely shady lapa. John and Redglobe, thanks for arranging this lovely lapa (free of charge) for us. There is a lot of space and braai facilities, no matter what the weather will be.

Parents please note that there is a swimming pool next to the lapa, so please keep a close eye on your kids at all times during the event!

Please make your own arrangements with the caravan park if you would like to stay over during the weekend.

What to bring?

Own meat, drinks and salads/rolls/chips.

Let’s treat ourselves to a festive buffet style dessert table!

Can each team please bring a small plate of sweet treats or a small pudding (enough for the number of members in your team) for this table?

Your own chairs, picnic table, crockery, cutlery, picnic blankets.

Caching pictures to put on the notice board – to share laughs and celebrate milestones.

What will be provided?

Charcoal for the fires.

A treat for the dessert table.

All cachers will have free entry to the caravan park on the day (just mention at the gate that you are a geocacher). Everyone is welcome!

Activities for the kids:

A creative “make a festive cache” activity.

Father (or mother) Christmas may make a guest appearance.

There is a kiddies playground behind the lapa. (Playground equipment is used at own risk).

Please indicate how many kids are in your team when you log that you will attend.

Can the kids please bring the following for their activity, if possible:

A recycled container like an ice cream tub that seals tightly and recycled material like cereal boxes, egg cartons, shiny packaging, milk carton lids, ribbons, string, old Christmas wrapping, etc.

A pencil case with their marked stationary like pritt, scissors, glitter, coloured pencils/crayons/koki’s. No paint please, it can get too messy.

Lots of creative ideas!
