Geocache Description:

If you're wanting a nice easy stroll through the coast forest, the check out the loop trail on the north side of Shore Acres State Park. Several other caches can be found by hiking this Trail System.

Terrain is general flat, and the trail wide. This cache should be relatively easy to locate.

Back in the day when Simpson owned the Shore Acres Estate, he had a grand entrance on the north end of the property. Today, remnants of this entrance still remain, but it is not historically marked.

The pillars have stood the testament of time amungst the Spruce dominant forest, but are in need of restoration.

To view a great example of the forest floor in a full life cycle, stand on the south side of the pillars close enough to where you can visually only see 4 of the 6 pillars.

When only 4 of the 6 pillars are visible look to your left. Behold, notice the great example of a nursing tree. ( live trees growing atop a fallen and decaying tree)

Now stand on the north side of the pillars. Stand close enough to where you can see all 6 pillars and look to your left. Behold, notice the large spruce tree that has recently fallen. This tree too will one day become the foundation to tree seedlings sprouting on it.

Head toward the giant fallen tree.
