This cache has been archived.

Hemlock: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Geocache Description:

The Weird Walk of Wonder is adjacent to a nice local walking path along a canal hugging the American River Canyon. The name comes from a very old and stange cabin that is overgrown by blackberry bushes in the ravine below the cache, with significant mining remnants nearby. The terrain is along a fairly level trail, a couple of brief rocky spots, with the last 15 feet down a rocky slope. Closest parking area is 700 feet or so to the southwest. Hiding spot is fairly obvious.

The Weird Walk of Wonder is a very enjoyable stroll along a canal with significant mining history nearby that was placed by my 12 year old daughter. Container is a small peanut butter jar wrapped in camo tape. Runners, dog walkers, and families use the trail and it is family friendly. At the time this was hidden contents included an energy shot for FTF, a log, small compass, crystal rock, small car, sticker, clothes pin, small rubber rat, toy barricade(?), little toy fireman, and a micro container to make your own cache. If you are local I guarantee you will be back to walk this trail.

Edit: The parking as listed by the waypoint is the easiest way to access this cache. There is no need to go off the path along the canal until you are right on top of the cache. I ran into the FTF this afternoon while I was placing a pen in the cache, and he and his kids did some serious bushwhacking to try and get there.
