A drive by cache in the carpark leading to the Kitchener Memorial. The cache is a 35mm film canister with log and pencil.
Stealth will be required to find this cache as the carpark can be very busy particularly during the summer so please take great care!
The Kitchener Memorial
The Tower was erected by the People of Orkney to commemorate Field Marshall Earl Kitchener KG, PC, KP, GCB, OM,GCSI, GCMG, GCIE -1850-1916.
He liberated the Sudan from tyranny at the Battle of Omdurman in 1989 and improved the medical, educational and legal systems, commerce and agriculture of that country and of Egypt.
He brought the South African War to a successful conclusion with a generous peace in 1902 and he reformed the army and defences of India.
He laid the foundations of victory in the Great War of 1914 -1918 but on an advisory mission to Russia he was drowned when HMS Hampshire struck a mine off Marwick Head on 5 June 1916.
