The purpose of this cache is to highlight and eagle project. The intent is to locate 12 of these caches near eagle projects throughout the Great Salt Lake Council, one for each point of the Scout Law. This cache is for Friendly.
The cache container holds several scouting patches including a Cache to Eagle patch. Please replace the container and hide it well. This area is very popular with muggles, espically on weekends and during holidays.
Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that requires him to demonstrate the ability to organize and lead others. Many thousands of hours of service are provided to communities and organizations around the country each year through eagle projects. This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases these special contributions. A local Scout organized an eagle project to clean up the area here around Bountiful Lake. On a weekend in September of 2010 a multitude of Scouts and their leaders decended on the lake and removed tons of trash that had been left by people recreating here. Many other Boy Scout service projects have been done here including planting trees and placing benches.
