I Will Remember Traditional Cache

The premise of this cache was explained to the folks who live
nearby, and they put us in touch with the caretaker. He was happy
to grant permission for it to be placed here.
Some of our favorite caches are the ones that lead us to
cemeteries. Viewing some of the older stones makes the female half
of the team feel somewhat sad at their seeming neglect. How long
has it been since such graves were visited by anyone? These
thoughts inspired her to pen the following poem.
I Will Remember
I know not how you came here - only whether early in life or
late.
Was your passing something expected, or was the shock of it quite
great?
Is there anyone left standing who was witness to that day?
Or have they - along with the memories they held of you - now all
slipped away?
Although it's true that I never knew you, and it's true that you
never knew me -
I'll just stand here a quiet moment hoping that somehow you will
see.
Maybe I'm not a dear loved one and it isn't quite the same -
-
But I will pause to leave a small token and I will remember your
name.

We cachers can honor those who have completed their lives here by
pausing a moment from our adventures to remember them. The cache is
stocked with single-stem artificial flowers. The idea here is that
after signing the log you will select one of them (or bring your
own flower or remembrance), then select an undecorated grave to
place it on. There are also copies of the poem in the cache, if you
would like one as a token of your visit. If you have something to
trade for a flower, that is fine but not necessary. A photo of your
visit would be a lovely trade off for us. We will try to keep the
cache stocked with flowers and would appreciate it if folks would
mention in their logs when the supply is getting low.
