You are looking for a small altoid type tin container that is well hidden. If you happen to be vertically challenged, there are sTOOLs nearby. There is a pencil and sharpener provided but it is better to bring your own pencil instead to sign the log. Enjoy the hunt!
Welcome to the Laura Howe Marsh.
There are two parking areas available, Park 1 at the trailhead if you feel like a long walk or Park 2 by the lake for a shorter walk.
Laura Howe was an avid bird watcher, naturalist and conservationist who wrote a column in the local newspaper for years promoting these activities. She was a driving force behind preserving this wetland area and it is so named in her honor.
The best wildlife habitats are found in marshes, such as this one, that have a mix of open water and emergent plantlife.
The marsh provides a spawning ground and nursery area for fish and amphibians, a winter refuge for deer and songbirds and a rich food source for beavers and hunters such as snakes(harmless), fox and birds of prey.
Please take the time to enjoy the trail and who knows what you may discover! You will have to get to the bottom of it to find the log. Congrats to hunter 5614 for the FTF.
