The reviews are in! Here is what cachers are saying about this cache:

"BY FAR...THE BEST Wherigo cartridge that I ever played...a technological masterpiece of geocaching art." -- FTFer KJKlock

"...a great adventure..." -- flyfisher

"...excellent all the way through..." -- 1st Sgt

This is a Wherigo cache which will take you on an epic adventure (actually, just a small one) in Government Canyon State Natural Area. The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

To find a Wherigo cache (also called a "cartridge" or "cart"), you will need a device that can download and play the cart. Garmin Colorados and Oregons can play Wherigo carts natively as can any Pocket PC device. To download the Wherigo Player for Pocket PC, visit Wherigo.com.

There are now apps for Android smartphones and iPhones. The Droid app is called Whereyougo, and the iPhone app is called Wherigo (formerly PiGo). Note that there's only one 'e' in Wherigo.

Once you have a player or app, you will need the cart. The cart for this cache can be found here: The Legend of Helga

Total walking distance is approximately 2.5 miles, of which the first mile is in paved areas and most of that can be driven after the first set of waypoints are completed. Please stay on marked trails (until you are looking for the final cache).

This cache is in Government Canyon State Natural Area and was placed with the written permission of park management. Please check the park website for entrance fees and operating hours (currently, Friday-Monday 7 am to 10 pm). Entrance fees are $6 per day per person 13 years and older unless you have a state park pass.

As a State Natural Area, the park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including some that are dangerous to us as geocachers (such as bees, black widows, tarantulas, scorpions, and of course, rattlesnakes). Watch where you step, and look where you are reaching. Be prepared, be aware of your surroundings, and always bring plenty of water.

This is my first Wherigo cache, and it was quite a learning experience. It has been tested with PiGo and with a Garmin Oregon (thanks, KitKat54!), but there are sure to be glitches you might come across. If you find one, please let me know and I will work to fix it.

If your device plays sounds, turn up the volume. It's not necessary, but it might help as you play the game. Also, keep one eye on your device as you walk between locations for any additional messages.

If you find yourself deep into the adventure and run into a problem, feel free to call me (aka Jim) at 530-329-3593. I will try to help if I can. If you prove that you put in some effort, I might even be convinced to give you the final coordinates.
