Geocache Description:

Where Tigers Train

The Tigers have journeyed to Lakeland every spring since 1934, with the exception of 1943-45 due to World War II, establishing the longest-lasting relationship between a Major League team and a current Spring Training host city.

There is no physical cache at this location. The above coordinates should take you near the first stage of the Wherigo cartridge and are recommended for parking. The final is a magnetic key holder. The geocache can be found after completing the Wherigo cartridge. The walk is child-friendly and wheelchair accessible. The walk will take you to a few spots around Tigertown and Joker Marchant stadium and should be able to be completed in less than an hour.

Some notes on how this Wherigo Geocache cartridge works. The cartridge has 5 zones (or stages) plus the final cache location. The first zone will be active and visible at the above coordinates. The next zone will become visible and active after you correctly answer the question for the zone you are in. "Active" means that your device is calculating a bearing and distance from your current location; "visible" means it shows on your map screen. When you leave a zone that zone will become inactive. You'll see it on your locations screen when it is active. If you select it, it will show like a waypoint "go to" - with distance and direction arrow. Once you arrive in a zone, there will be a question to answer before the next zone becomes active and visible. Again, you have to select it from the locations screen to become your next "go to". Zones become inactive as you exit them, to save CPU power; too many "active" zones slows the Pocket PC or Garmin as they calculate distances and bearings to each active location. The geocache location is provided at the final zone. Zones should be large enough to allow for error due to the tree cover. The back button will not scroll you back through screens! it takes you back to the main screen, a listing of available locations, tasks etc.
