So thankful for the kind cachers that made Geowoodstock VIII possible for me. Now you have an opportunity to share your story...
The old movie line about "depending on the kindness of strangers" ...was so true as I tried to salvage our vacation trip to Seattle for GW8. Secondwind and I were driving and because of health problems, flying was not possible. We made it to Iowa before we had to return home to Huntsville, Alabama, due to problems with Huntsville Utitlities (a very long story). It was decided I would fly, alone. I didn't know if it could work. I knew a few area folks were going and I thought after I got there, I would just need to get to the events. I even thought I had a ride- but that didn't work out. So I had to see if I could find someone who could help me. I had met webscouter (from Missouri and travels all over the world) at our flash mob event after GW7. We had previously emailed about the Cache Across America series which he has completed (and I STILL need Alaska). He and TripCyclone offered me a ride to GW8 and the Lost and Found event if I could stay at the same hotel - no problem there so that took care of 2 of the 3 events I wanted to attend. Now the APE event and cache... We tried to get the APE cache after GW6, but the tunnel hadn't opened yet. I really wanted this one, so I emailed the event organizers and posted a note on the APE event page. The one response I received was from Rubicon Wooly and Maggie (from Indiana). Wooly and his wonderful wife came out of their way to get me and even brought lunch! We did the event and several caches along the trail, and then they took me to the Friday meet and greet. Such nice and unselfish people. Anyway that's my story. I hope you will post something about another cacher's generousity or kindness. What a nice way to give a shout out to say thanks!
