Geocache Description:

THIS IS AN EARTHCACHE CHALLENGE. YOU MUST COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE AND OBTAIN APPROVAL BEFORE FINDING AND LOGGING THE FINAL CACHE. THERE IS A CONTAINER AT THE POSTED COORDINATES.

ANY LOGS THAT DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CHALLENGE WILL BE DELETED.

We love to celebrate milestones and goals. One hundred seems to be a significant number that gives us a sense of accomplishment but being half-way there is a good feeling, too. To log a “found it” for this cache, you must find or have found 50 EarthCaches.

You do not need to create a bookmark list. I will verify the 50 EarthCaches from your profile page.

This is not a Missouri challenge. The EarthCaches can be located anywhere.

Previous finds count if you completed the EarthCache requirements to the owner’s satisfaction and logged a “found it”.

No combining of accounts. All EarthCaches must be logged by one account.

If you are the owner of an EarthCache, you may NOT use it to reach your total number of 50. That takes away the fun of the challenge! Get out there and learn something about our earth. EarthCaches teach us something and always take us to places worthy of our visit.

When you have logged 50 EarthCaches and are ready to go for the final, you need to obtain approval. You can post a note to this cache page or email me from my profile page. When you have been approved, you may seek the final cache. You earned the opportunity to find something bigger than a micro! At the posted coordinates, a place worthy of your visit, there is an ammo can filled with swag. The difficulty level is based on logging 50 EarthCaches.

Grand Bluffs Conservation Area is located in southern Montgomery County and open for public use from 4:00am-10:00pm. The Katy Trail passes south of the area. This 223-acre conservation area features a 2 mile stretch of towering dolomite bluffs that rise above the Missouri River floodplain. These steep bluffs were formed by the river, which is now one-half mile to the south. The bluffs were spared the widespread blasting and quarrying that occurred during the construction of the Missouri, Kansas and Texas railway in the 1890’s.

The Grand Bluffs Scenic Overlook Trail will lead you through forest and prairie to an overlook deck. The deck sits atop a tall fluted dry dolomite bluff and provides a serene view of the Missouri River, bottomland fields and adjacent bluffs and blufftop glades. This is approximately a 2 mile roundtrip hike. Approximate elevation gain from the trailhead to the highest point on the trail is 350'.
