Geocache Description:

The cache is located along the eastern side of the Sutter bypass slough. It is about a quarter-mile walk from the parking area (see coordinates below).

The yellow-billed magpie is a large bird in the crow family found only in California. They are permanent residents and usually do not wander outside their breeding range. They forage on the ground, mainly eating insects--especially grasshoppers, but also carrion, acorns and fruit in fall and winter. Yellow-billed magpie flocks are known to engage in funeral-like behavior for their dead.
