The Scout Master: The location for this cache has now become unusable and it will no longer hold the container, so I have decided to archive it as this is no longer good for a cache here. Thanks to all who visited over the last 3 years.

Geocache Description:

Pay attention to the terrain rating of this cache.

The cache is not all that difficult to find, BUT you must scale a very steep, very loose-groundcover bank. There is only about 18 feet of that, BUT, The footing is very loose - and there is little to hold on to! SO GETTING it may be difficult.

It is located around 30 feet off the roadway UP the bank.

I do NOT recommend this for children.
A Walking Stick might be a big help.

Due to the mountainous terrain, your coords might be off. So, I will give you directions to follow when you get there:

This is very near where Gap Creek Rd intersects with Hwy 25. Turn onto Gap Creek Rd and park.(PARKING COORDS: N 35 09.964, W 082 28.286.)
There are 2 paved pull-offs, one on each side of the road. I prefer the one on the side the guardrail is on as it is just across the road from the cache location.
. There is a side road you can turn around on about 1/4 mile down the road.

Go down Gap Creek Rd about 10 steps from the end of the guardrail.
Look across the road. You should see a multi-trunked tree down low with a big rock face behind it.
Cross the road(watch for traffic). Continue across the 2 foot ditch.
Continue UP the STEEP bank directly behind the multi-trunked tree to the rock face, looking for the 6 inch vertical gap in the rocks.

You are seaching for a 1-pound ointment jar, about 5" tall by 4" across secreted in the gap/crack behind a rock. The rock is a little loose so Please replace securely so it does not fall out.

AGAIN, be careful, the bank is Steep and you can fall.
Also, watch where you place your hands, some of the trees have THORNS.

Watch for briars, ticks, falling rock. AND THE BRANCH that might scrape your head.

HAPPY CACHING!
