Une cache pour le monument emblématique
de Vendôme.
Cette porte est la seule encore en place parmi les
quatre qui contrôlaient l'accès dans la ville. Les réunions du
conseil municipal et les mariages s'y déroulent de nouveau depuis
sa restauration en 1959 suite à l'incendie lié au bombardement de
1940. Elle date du XIIIe siècle et fut embellie vers 1530 (fenêtres
à meneaux, machicoulis et frise de dauphins entrelacés). La
porte d'origine, en ogive avec poterne latérale a disparu,
l'ouverture actuelle datant du début du XIXé siècle.
ENGLISH: This door is the only one still in place
among the four who controlled access into the town of
Vendome. The city council meetings and weddings take
place there again since its restoration in 1959 following a fire
linked to the bombing of 1940. It dates from the thirteenth century and
was embellished to 1530 (mullioned windows, battlements and frieze
of intertwined dolphins). The original door, with arched
