An easy and short multi in a newly renovated park in Lindenhurst. See the LPD description here: (visit link)

After reading some cache logs about daring adventures and great peril, Frog looked at Toad and said, “I wonder if we are brave?”

To find out, he and Toad went to the park. “We can try to walk this trail,” said Frog. “That should tell us if we are brave.”

Frog went leaping along first the paved and then the limestone trail, and Toad came puffing up behind him.

They came to a wooden bridge. A large-mouth bass came swimming up to them. “Hello lunch,” gurgled the large-mouth bass when he saw Frog and Toad. He opened his mouth up wide.

Frog and Toad jumped away. Toad was shaking. “I am not afraid!” he cried.

They continued along over the wooden bridge and back onto a gravel path. Then, they came to a sign. Many animals were pictured on the sign. “How many game fish are there in this pond who would like to eat us Frog?” asked Toad.

“I don’t know, but subtract the number of unwanted fish from that number and we might find out if we are brave.” said Frog.

[Frog and Toad are not very good at math, so they will need you to make the calculations for them.]

Just as Frog and Toad were about to hop along, the shadow of a hawk fell over them. Frog and Toad jumped under a rock. The hawk flew away. “We are not afraid!” screamed Frog and Toad at the same time.

They looked back up at the sign. “How many birds are there?” asked Toad.

“I don’t know, but find out how many are pictured on the sign and we might find out if we are brave.” said Frog

Then they ran along the stone trail and crossed over another long wooden bridge very fast. They ran all the way to another sign and stopped to take a look.

“How many of your species do you see on the sign, Frog?” asked Toad.

“I don’t know, but subtract from that number the number of your species pictured on the sign, Toad, and we might find out if we are brave.”

Having taken a tiny bit comfort from the knowledge of all the other frogs and toads nearby, Toad turned to Frog and said, “Frog, I am glad to have a brave friend like you." Then, he quickly jumped down the paved and then wood chip trail. He dove under a log and pulled some leaves over his head.

“And I am happy to know a brave person like you, Toad,” said Frog. He, too, jumped along the paved and then wood chip trail and dove under a log and into a regular sized lock and lock container.

Toad stayed under the leaves and Frog stayed in the container. They stayed there for a long time, just feeling very brave together.
