Ponce's Fountain of Youth at the Village Green Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BrewSleuth: This one has been problematic to maintain. I have watched a squirrel toss the cache out of the tree and seasonally when the holiday lights go up it disappears. I plan to replace with a new and improved cache nearby.

Geocache Description:

Micro, log only.

While on an expedition exploring the Florida coast searching for the Fountain of Youth, Ponce De Leon found Key BIscayne in 1513. Many communities have claimed to be the location of the Fountain. This cache is located along the main axis that divides the Village Green in two with its central focus being the Village Green Fountain.

The story goes that a previous land owner claimed the plot to be agricultural land to avoid property taxes. The property was not maintained and looked to be an abandoned grove until 1993 when it was acquired by a community land trust. The land was eventually developed as a central gathering place for outdoor activity on the Village. Development includes a veterans' memorial, ball fields, children's play area, perimeter 1/2 mile long jog path, small band stand, and fountain.

Please replace as found. Cache fits best a certain way. DO NOT PUT IN HOLE - it fills with water.
