Geocache Description:

This cache originated in the Middle Ages. In the German epic poem of this time period called The Lay of the Nibelungen, the hero Siegfried defeated a people called the Nibelungen. After defeating the Nibelungen he forced them to give him a huge cache of gold as tribute. Shortly thereafter Siegfried married Kriemhild, sister of Gunter, the king of Burgundy. For a wedding gift Siegfried gave Kriemhild the hoard of the Nibelungen. Brunhild the queen soon discovered that Siegfried had betrayed her in a contest and wanted revenge. Consequently, she had Siegfried assassinated. Brunhild was also jealous of Kriemhild and feared the power that the gold gave her. With the gold she feared that Siegfried's widow might buy an army of mercenaries and overthrow the king. To prevent this possibility, she had Hagen the chancellor to steal her gold and hide it where it would never be found. This was not to be.
A peasant family watched unseen from a copse of trees close by as Hagen hid the gold under the Rhine. After he left they recovered it. The gold was then passed down from generation to generation to all the descendants of this family. The rumor was that the family which possessed the gold in the mid nineteenth century emigrated to the little community of Lohman, Missouri. To protect the gold in Lohman, they brought with them a troll who was given the task of forever guarding the cache. Unfortunately for them, he was not very trustworthy which is good for us cachers.
The coordinates above shall lead cachers to the troll. After finding the troll the seeker need not pay him as is the custom. A simple pat on the head will do. The troll shall then divulge the coordinates of the golden cache which is less than 200 yards away.
You will be looking for a medium-size plastic container containing gold-colored coins. If you would like to take a coin, replace it with gold-colored object. A log book and pen are also in the container.
The troll lair and cache location are not wheelchair accessible. Park on the road leading to the church or in the church parking lot.
Permission to hide the cache has been granted.
