I recently discovered the Canoe Launch when my friend crossmage
was visiting from Houston, TX. I wanted to give my city friend an
experience of caching in an area with a variety of challenges and
beautiful scenery, so to the Canoe Launch we went. I quickly fell
in love with this place, and it was yet another example of a place
I wouldn't have known about, nor would I have likely visited, were
it not for geocaching. I wondered why it had taken me so long to
cache here.
When I returned to the Canoe Launch to do some more caching and
hide my first Canoe Launch hide , I noticed this dead tree near the
edge of "The Big Ditch" and thought it would be a great place for a
cache.
This is an easy find right along the southern trails. There is a
beautiful view of this part of the Wichita-Valley
Center Flood Control Project from this vantage point (see
pics), so take the time to enjoy the scenery. Because it is located
in the middle of an intersection of trails, and somewhat in the
open, please use stealth when retrieving this one. And if caching
with little ones, take care to watch for ATV's and dirtbikes.
Cache is starting out with the normal trade-a-ma-doodles and the
FTF prize is a mini MAGlite. I'm also starting my first travel tag,
Frog in
the Woods, on it's way from this cache.
Other caches on the south end.
