Dies ist ein Cache für meine beste Freundin Pfarrkirche St. Michael in Leisach Wann die erste Kapelle oder Kirche in Leisach erbaut wurde kann man nicht mehr zurückverfolgen. Sicher ist, dass Leisach eine "Filiale" der karolingischen Reichspfarre von Dölsach war. Bald nach der Gründung von Lienz wurde Leisach zusammen mit Burgfrieden und Bannberg eigenes Vikariat. Um 1264 wird die Kirche von Leisach zum ersten Mal erwähnt: Erzbischof Ulrich von Salzburg lässt hier, wie in einigen anderen Gotteshäusern, den Bannbrief gegen einen unbotsmässigen Dompropst verkünden. Nach 1652 wurde die inzwischen baufällig gewordene Kirche gründlich renoviert und 1679 geweiht. In den Jahren 1684 und 1734 wurde St. Michael durch Dorfbrände in Mitleidenschaft gezogen, aber nicht ernsthaft beschädigt. Schwerere Schäden erlitten Turm mit Glocken, das Dach, sowie Innenteile der Kirche durch einen Brand im Jahr 1749. In der napolionischen Besatzungszeit (1809) wurde die Kirche abermals durch Brandschäden schwer in Mitleidenschaft gezogen. Sie wurde bis 1839 wieder barockähnlich renoviert. Der Kötschacher Maler Christoph Brandstätter schuf die passenden Fresken. 1891 wurde Leisach eine eigene Pfarrei. 1910, im Zuge der Regotisierung, erhielt das Gotteshaus drei Altäre von Josef Bachlechner (Hall). 1980 bis 1984 erfolgte eine "grosse" Renovierung, 2000 wurde die neue Leichenhalle eingeweiht. The after 1652 dilapidated church was thoroughly renovated and consecrated in 1679. In the years 1684 and 1734 St. Michael was affected by village fires, but not seriously damaged. The church suffered severe damage (bell tower, the roof, as well as internal parts of the church) by a fire in 1749. In the Napoleonic occupation (1809), the church again was affected by fire damage. 1839 it was renovated again in Baroque style. A painter of Kötschach, Christoph Brandstätter, created the best frescoes. 1891 Leisach became a separate parish. As part of a Gothic restoration, the church received 1910 three altars by Josef Bachlechner (Hall). 1980-1984 was the last "great" renovation, 2000, the new morgue opened.
