Das Amt Reckenberg ist eine ehemalige Bundkörperschaft im mittlerweile aufgelösten Kreis Wiedenbrück und war ursprünglich eine Exklave des Hochstifts Osnabrück. Verwaltungszentrum war die Stadt Wiedenbrück.
Als Folge der Umwandlung des Hochstifts in das Fürstentum Osnabrück wurde das Amt Reckenberg 1802 vorerst Kur-Hannover zugeschlagen und fiel 1807 an das Königreich Westphalen. Bereits 1810 wurde das Amt Reckenberg mit Wiedenbrück nach dem Wiener Kongress an Preußen abgetreten und 1816 der neuen Provinz Westfalen zugeordnet. Damit war das Amt nicht mehr Gebietsbestandteil des Bistums Osnabrück, die katholischen Gemeinden des Amtes kamen zum Bistum Paderborn.
Diese Zuordnung blieb weitestgehend stabil, bis 1914 die Gemeinden Avenwedde, Friedrichsdorf und Spexard-(Kattenstroth) in das neu eingerichtete Amt Avenwedde umgegliedert wurden. Zuvor war Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts bereits die Gemeinde Moese in das Amt Rietberg umgegliedert worden.

The Office Reckenberg is a former federal government entity in the now-defunct Circle Wiedenbrück and was originally an exclave of the Bishopric of Osnabrück. Administrative center was the city Wiedenbrück.
As a result of the conversion of the diocese in the principality of Osnabrueck, the Office Reckenberg first struck in 1802 and fell spa Hannover 1807, the Kingdom of Westphalia. In 1810, the Office Reckenberg with Wiedenbrück after the Congress of Vienna ceded to Prussia in 1816 and assigned to the new province of Westphalia. This was the office area not part of the Diocese of Osnabrück, the Catholic communities of the Office came to the diocese of Paderborn.
This association remained largely stable, have been reclassified to 1914 the communities Avenwedde, Friedrichsdorf and Spexard (Kattenstroth) in the newly established Office Avenwedde. Previously, the beginning of the 20th Century the town already been reclassified in the Office Moese Rietberg.
