The cache IS at the posted coordinates. The terrain rating reflects the hike and elevation changes for this cache, but the difficulty rating reflects the requirements necessary to log this cache. In the theme of our series entitled York County Hikes, we present the following challenge: Log at least one find of a terrain rating of 2 or higher from the seventeen parks, state game lands, and Mason Dixon Trail sections located in York County that are listed below.
Some rules and guidelines:
- Archived caches in the required locations are allowed
- Some caches may require a long walk but have a terrain lower than 2. These caches are allowed as well as a hike for one person may be different for another.
- ‘Cache and Dashes’ or “Park and grabs” at any location are not allowed.
- If you have any questions if a cache meets the requirements for this challenge, please email the CO.
- To show the requirements of this challenge cache are fulfilled, list the caches for each location in your log or provide a bookmark list – please provide GC numbers as well.
The container is an ammo can stocked full of swag for you to take, not trade. We figured if you completed this challenge you deserve a prize. Swag includes a pathtag, a new nano cache, an unactivated travel bug, and some outdoor stuff. The prize for FTF is a $25 gift card to Starbucks to give you that extra energy to keep going.
Park at either of the Apollo Park parking lots and follow the Mason Dixon Trail until you see a blue blazed metal gate – the ‘entrance’ to the final part of your hike is right across from the gate. While it may be tempting, please do not bushwhack to the cache - follow the trail! Please be careful and do not do more than you feel comfortable doing - there may be risk for injury in the last thirty feet. That being said it is a scenic and beautiful hike - take a camera along to snap a few pictures of some great scenery.
