Geocache Description:

Part of a series of 9 caches celebrating the engineering marvel that is Coventry's ring road.

This Cache is on a public footpath and should be wheelchair accessible (it is about 6 inches above ground level).

The cache is another little nano I'm afraid.

"Nine for mortal men doomed to die!"

With a plan to hide one micro cache per junction making nine in total, the line from Tolkein's riddle seemed an appropriate name for this series considering the driving style of some of the ring road's users.

Joking aside, Coventry's ring road is unusual in that it seems to quietly do it's job and lets you get from one side of the city to the other with the minimum of hold-ups (so long as you use it properly).

For us locals it also provides amusement as we watch "foreigners" attempt to get to grips with it's idiosyncracies.

The caches in this series are placed within sight of the main ring road junctions.

Although the immediate area around the cache has little to recommend it, just south of Junction 9 behind the Salvation Army building you can see a well preserved part of the old City wall including the remnants of a bastion and a little further along a guard tower.
