Geocache Description:

On Te Whara Track in the Whangarei heads area. After a two hour trek through the native New Zealand bush, you will arrive at two little heights from the top of the mountain. You will be able to climb both and the cache is up the right one. If you head up the left hand side, you won't find the cache but you will find a rock climb up to a crevess and a view. When you get the to GZ you will be almost at the top of the right hand side, you will be looking at the base of the tree in the roots.

The Bream Head/Te Whara track follows an ancient Maori trail from Urquharts Bay to Ocean Beach. Te Whara was the principal wife of the rangatira Manaia. A reasonable level of fitness, skill and experience is needed to walk the main tracks at Bream Head Scenic Reserve. The hill access leading onto the Mt Lion, Ocean Beach and Peach Cove tracks are all steep.
