SeaGirtLight: Well...I guess it's time to face the fact that holiday time is over. :(

Thank you all so much for coming...it was a great evening, and we definitely got some bugs moved! We'll be back in Southampton -- our ships keep bringing us there -- so look for a "GTTAC 2" sometime!

Geocache Description:

The Winter Crossing Club (WCC) is a group of adventurous ocean travellers who convene during the coldest time of year to cross the Atlantic between Britain and the United States in hopes of the liveliest of sea conditions. Originally the WCC formed by those intrepid travelers making the annual winter crossing on the QE2. Since the retirement of QE2, the group has continued to convene on other ships, usually on transatlantic crossings.

The Geocaching Unit of the Winter Crossing Club is a subset of explorers who have cached together whenever in maritime locations. So far, they have met in Southampton; New York; Long Beach, California; Connecticut; and New Orleans. In January 2009 four of the group cached in Nassau, The Bahamas after sailing on one of the final trips of the Regal Empress (formerly the Greek ocean liner SS Olympia).

The GCUWCC will be in Southampton to experience the maiden transatlantic crossing of the new Queen Elizabeth. Prior to embarking, seagirtlight and tandemstoker hope to cache in the New Forest and also look forward to meeting local cachers as well as any who will be making the crossing with them. So, why not host an event to do so?

We have selected The Grapes pub as our venue due to its historic connections to the Titanic. Please join us on 3 January starting at 6PM there for food, drink, and good old fashioned geo-talk. If you have trackables in need of crossing the pond or travelling to distant horizons we hope you come to meet some of your cousins from the Colonies!
