Geocache Description:


   The castle on Chorna Hora (Black Mountain) was built on a place of an ancient settled territory which dates back to XIVth - XIIth centuries B.C. (Stanovo culture).

   The castle complex consists of the castle itself, made of stone, the castle's chapel and the St. Francis of Assisi Church. All those buildings were enclosed with defensive walls.

   The castle was built in XIIIth - XIVth centuries. It had a form of a square (44.5x30 m) with a tower on each corner. /1/

   The chapel was built in XIVth century on a base of an old guard tower. /2/

   In XVth - XVIth centuries the castle was offered to St. Francis of Assisi monks, and they founded near the castle a monastery and a church. Until present days there are the ruins of the Gothic church next to the monastery. (XVIth century) /3/

   The castle was destroyed in 1557-1558.






    Hrad na Cerne Hore (Corna Hora) byl postaven na miste obydleneho uzemi, ktere saha az do XIV - XII stoleti pr. n.l.

    Areal hradu se sklada ze zamotneho hradu, postaveneho z kamene, hradni kaple a kostela Sv. Frantiska z Assisi. Vsechny tyto budovy byly spojene obrannou zdi.

    Hrad byl postaven ve XIII - XIV stoleti. Mel podobu ctverce (44.5x30 m) s vezi na kazdem rohu. / 1 /

    Kaple byla postavena v XIV stoleti na miste stare strazni veze. / 2 /

    V XV - XVI stoleti byl hrad nabidnut mnichum radu Frantiskanu, a oni zalozili v blizkosti hradu klaster a kostel. Az do soucasnosti jsou videt zriceniny gotickeho kostela (bohuzel i s bramborovym polem uvnitr) vedle klastera. (XVI stoleti) / 3 /

    Hrad byl znicen v roce 1557-1558.
