This cache is part of a series set around the picturesque village of Chipping, in the heart of the Ribble Valley, on the edge of the Trough of Bowland. A walk approximately 2 hours. This cache is a film cannister. Pencil needed.
The village is known to be at least 1,000 years old and is mentioned in Domesday. Chipping is named in the Domesday book as Chippenden; the name is derived from the medieval Chepyn meaning market place. The area is classed as an 'Area of Outstanding Beauty'. This cache is in a field with views of Longridge Fell.
You can choose your own route from here:
The footpath North East takes you over a stile, bare left through the school grounds (public footpath marked), coming out on to Windy Street/Longridge Road.
The footpath South East takes you along the tributary, through the show field and to the lay by parking.
The footpath North West from this cache is difficult to spot - a wooden gate, with a white sign on it, red writing barely visible (footpath) it does take you through someone's drive way, but it is signposted as public footpath.
