Boonetown Falls V2.0 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This cache is in historic, Grace Lord Park. It replaces my long time cache in the same area, but has a much better view of the falls. It's an easy hike in, but the trail is narrow and there is a steep drop on one side. Also some poison ivy and thorns guarding the cache but if you are careful you can pick your way around them. In the winter if there is ice on this trail it will be extremely dangerous, so do not attempt it without crampons or MicroSpikes

The cache is close to the trail in a popular area so make certain you aren't being watched.

The best places to access this are either from the main entrance on West Main St, from the staircase on Main St, or from the parking area at the end of Plane St.

A few hundred feet southeast of the cache there is an interesting and very large rock formation known variously as Washington Rock, Indian Rock and Lone Rock. At one time it was tourist attraction and is depicted on antique post cards, as can seen in this collection of old Boonton postcards.

Also be sure to check out the remains of Boonton's early, industrial past. The buildings were lost long ago, but some ruins are still visible. The falls are quite scenic, so bring your camera.
