There's a delightful walking path around Lake Hood! Check out the busiest floatplane base in the world while stretching your legs and clearing your mind... Oh - and bring your own pen.
Walkers are welcome here - but...
- DO NOT FEED WILDFOWL!
- Dogs on leash at all times
- Obey signs about parking
- Stay off planes & floating docks
- Do not 'act suspiciously'
- Hunt during daylight hours, please
Oh - and did I say...
- DO NOT FEED WILDFOWL!
In the summertime this area is patrolled aggressively by both police and wildlife control agents. Police obviously are keeping the area 'secure' (and they're state police - so treat them with respect), and the wildlife agents are ensuring the wildfowl don't interfere with flight operations. There are adverse consequences for feeding wildfowl - so resist temptation and stay back from the water's edge. Please hide the cache as you found it. This is the world's busiest floatplane base in the summertime, and it's still a great walk in the wintertime too. You can circumnavigate the water and return to this spot on foot.
Have fun!
