This area of Charlotte is one our favorites. We hope you enjoy Latta Park and the surrounding parts. The serene setting of this cache should not come with too many muggles, unless perhaps on a beautiful weekend afternoon. Thanks for looking, this is our first hide!
Latta Park is a charming inner city park, that was unveiled over a century ago. It is fairly busy throughout the year as walkers, joggers, and picnickers utilize the trails and lawns. Mature oaks, hickories, and tulip poplars surround a small creek that runs through the entire length of the park. Wide gravel trails make for easy walking and the lawn areas under the tree canopy provide unobstructed views of ground-foraging birds. Back in the day, Latta Park was originally known as the “pleasure resort” and was at the southern end of the street car line. It sat just outside the city limits in Dilworth, Charlotte's first real suburb!
