White Horse Grist Mill
The first mill on this site, made of logs, was built in 1729. The first stone mill was built around 1766 and was one story - 36' x 45'. The mill was also known as Stauffer's Mill, after John Stauffer acquired it in 1899. It is currently 3½ stories, with an attic and a small central cupola, and was still in operation as late as 1969. Today it houses "White Horse Mill Antiques". It still has the wood floors and steps, and some of the old mill equipment and machinery, which can be seen inside.
This one should be an easy find. Cache is an ammo can, placed with the owner's permission and in the area that he suggested. You may park in the parking area on the east side of the building in the area of the shed, should be within about 40' of the cache. If you do park there, please beware of falling walnuts in the fall! Also, please be careful in the area near GZ, the leaves are slick when wet!
This can be searched 24/7. If you'd like to see the inside of the mill, it's open everyday til 5 pm, closed Tuesday (& Wednesday Jan-Mar).
