Mustang Sally (ride yer pony)

Welcome to the fist cache, hopefully in a small series around Hackthorn. Parking is available nearby, however you may like to park near the church in a designated car park which allows you permissive access to the beautiful parklands. There is a footpath from here to the cache site. You can also easily walk to 'Knock on Wood' from here.
Hackthorn is a pretty village with many quaint stone house and cottages and also the imposing Hackthorn Hall overlooking the lake and country park. Next to the hall, which has been in the ownership of the Cracroft family for over 400 years, is a striking church and a cluster of stone farm buildings. The park land is the site of a deserted medieval village indicated by the humps and hollows in the grass. There is also evidence of a ridge and furrow field system from times gone by.
Please note these dates for permissive access are unavailable:
November 5, 19 & 26
December 17th.
January 2011 14th.
