This puzzle event IS at the posted coordinates! Convenient to
several subway lines, including the 1, A, C, E, N, R, Q, J, Z and
6.
Do the Dastardly puzzles in New York and beyond sometimes feel a
little frustrating? Does it seem like you could enjoy them more -
if only you knew how to start? Join childofatom and addisonbr for
an evening workshop at the Manhattan Children's Theater to talk
about the basics of solving geo-puzzles.
Topics will include...
- What is a Puzzle Cache? (or Mystery Cache or Unknown
Cache...)
- Common puzzle types
- How should I start?
- Basic solving strategies
- Useful tools (on the Internet and elsewhere)
- What about hints?
We'll be working through examples throughout the workshop, so
bring your thinking caps and a willingness to ask questions. It
will be an open forum, so if you're comfortable contributing to the
discussion you're more than welcome to jump in and offer your own
advice and experiences. (Note that any hints on existing New York
puzzles will only be offered up by authors of the puzzles
themselves, if they attend and are so inclined.)
Please note that any hints on existing puzzles will only be
offered by puzzle authors who are in attendance - nobody will be
offering hints for puzzles that are not their own.
Afterwards, whether you are
tired out after the workshop and need a beer to calm your mind, of
you feel like you know all you'll ever need to know about puzzles
and just want to hang out with a couple of other cachers,
we'll be at the nearby Tribeca Tavern at
8pm onward to meet your needs.
Tribeca Tavern will also be the perfect place to receive your
Dastardly
Pathtag, whether you're at 15 puzzles logged, or 30! If you've
"leveled up" since the last event, come get your new tag!
You don't need to attend the workshop to join as at the
after-event - you're welcome to attend both, or pick a location
that suits you.
If you plan to join us, please submit a
"Will Attend" log so that we can make sure we have enough handouts
for everyone. (Of course, if you forget you're still
more than welcome to come.)
See you there!
