Lechmere Canal, now part of a public park, was once an active port. The canal was a product of the 1870s, when private developers filled a former marsh to create commercial sites. Eventually, the canal and its surrounding industries, like many parts of East Cambridge, became run down, and redevelopment projects were pitched in the 1970s to restore the area. The winning design was commissioned by a firm in Boston, and boasts what is reported to be New England’s tallest public fountain, shooting water up to over 160 feet. It also boasts one of the scariest jungle gyms in the area, adjacent to the cache. Oh, if only its components were magnetic!
Important notes:
• Remember carefully where/how the geocache is hidden before retrieving, and most always replace as you have initially found it. Do NOT relocated the geocache elsewhere.
• The nano log scroll is the 'Original' Nano type, so there is a metal stem in the center. Use the magnetic bottom to stick and pull out the log. Yet, still a good idea to bring some tweezers, just in case. Please roll the log as tightly as possible, so it will fit inside the non-magnetic top cap, NOT into the magnetic bottom.
• As always for Urban Geocaches, especially at muggle-lishious locations, use EXTREME stealth, watch ALL directions, be VERY patient, and time your move SUPER-DUPER carefully.
