I recently discovered the Canoe Launch when my friend crossmage
was visiting from Houston, TX. I wanted to give my city friend an
experience of caching in an area with a variety of challenges and
beautiful scenery, so to the Canoe Launch we went. I quickly fell
in love with this place, and it was yet another example of a place
I wouldn't have known about, nor would I have likely visited, were
it not for geocaching. I wondered why it had taken me so long to
cache here.
Crossmage and I were able to hunt down several caches that day,
but time was short, and we had to leave some on the north and south
ends undiscovered. I realized when I finished logging our finds,
that I was soon approaching another milestone, and thought it would
be great to come back to this beautiful place to finish up what we
had left behind, and track down my 500th find.
In mentioning my thoughts to a fellow cacher, I was challenged
to also hide one while I was here. Never one to let a challenge go
unanswered, I decided to rise to the challenge and kill two birds
with one stone by hiding this cache close to my 500th.
GZ is located about 60 feet off the trail. You won't need
special equipment to reach this cache, just steady balance or a
tree climbing friend. Be careful of the thorny vines at the base of
the tree. The cache is not in plain sight, but the wire which
secures it is. You will not have to hang off a limb to access the
cache, so you can skip the knot holes which are out of reach. You
can easily lie down to sign the log if you prefer it to standing,
just hold on to the cache and your pen! Please rehide as is to
challenge the next cacher and keep it from being dislodged by
curious critters.
As always, please follow the geocachers' creed; particularly,
"When seeking a cache, know your limitations and be aware of
your surroundings. Don't attempt anything beyond your
abilities."
FTF prize is an unactivated Micro Signal Geocoin.
Other caches on the south end.
